There's something extra special about driving the perimeter of Lake Hennessey and up the long, winding, steep road to Chappellet Winery.
For one thing, you never know what to expect as far as the view goes.

One day you might be above the clouds, which are blanketing the lake and valley below, and another day you may be sitting with your head in the clouds... or, sometimes, big fluffy clouds hover over you like lofty visitors, checking on the vineyards below.

Of course, the most spectacular is a bright, clear view of the lake and hills to the north, but even that changes with the seasons. Dormant vines, fall folliage, spring's light florescent green, and summer's ocean of deep green leaves all lend their own tapestry to the view on Pritchard Hill.
And then... there's the sunset...
