Nice length.” The Tasting Panel May 2012 Andy Dias Blue 2009 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon “Smooth and velvety with bright plum and cherry fruit; racy and fresh with great depth, style and finesse; agile and charming.” 92 Points – Outstanding

2009 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon
“Medium ruby-red. Complex, varietally expressive aromas of cassis, black cherry, minerals, tobacco and chocolate, plus a light leafy element. Suave but tightly wound, with lovely energy and mountain power to its medicinal black fruit and menthol flavors. In a fairly dry style, showing little easy sweetness and finishing with substantial mouthcoating tannins. This will need a good six to eight years to expand in bottle.” 92 Points

“12 Napa Standouts” 2009 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon “Dense and a touch rustic, with chewy tannins, crushed rock, dried berry, sage and savory flavors. Maintains its firm, tight focus and appears built for the long haul.” 90 Points

2009 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon
“Chappellet’s flagship wine is a big Cabernet, as evidenced by its opaque, purple-black color. The varietal nose is fruit-forward, full of rich cassis, fleshy black cherry and plum. Oak aging has added scents of clove, mocha and menthol. The tannins are large but rounded. This is a mouth-filling wine that leads to a plush, furry finish that keeps pumping blackberry fruit, mocha and licorice. Enjoyable now, it should shed some baby fat over the next several years and be at its peak around 2020.” 90 Points

2009 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon
“Chappellet, an old time (relatively speaking) Cali Cab producer, showed 2009 Signature made from Pritchard Hill grapes. It is worth looking into. The barrenness of Pritchard Hill causes small, intense grapes in most years. 2009 provided a huge bouquet of cherry, plum, black currant and violets. Big, soft tannins support a mixed flavor pack of blackberry, cherry, cassis and spice flavors, and the oak barreling adds a soupcon of brown sugar molasses. The finish is very long, lush yet clean, due to a properly balanced acid.”
